Pretty much everyone under this post has mentioned that we're not dorks.
I'm going to have to disagree with that statement. Come on, guys. Just admit it. Haha.
In my mind, however, being a dork is far from a bad thing. Dorks aren't fun-deprived; they just happen to CARE about their schoolwork. Some of us spend a lot more time on it than others, but we all care a little more than the average college student, and I think that that's really what sets us apart.
I'd also like to mention to any prospective honors kids out there that some of the classes offered to honors students are really fun, and much less of a struggle than one would expect. Right now, I'm enrolled in a class called Freudian Themes & Fairy Tales, and it's probably the most entertaining class I've ever taken. Basically, we sit in a circle on couches relating fairy tales to life in often strange and perverted ways. (I will NEVER look at Little Red Riding Hood the same way.) So if you decide to join us, then you have those sorts of classes to look forward to. (Yes, Becky-- I did just end a sentence with a preposition. It sounded stupid otherwise. There's the DORK in me speaking.)
---
In other news, I started a petition to not have class on Tuesday, but ONE PERSON (who shall remain nameless) refused to sign it under the grounds that he didn't "feel like it," so I refrained from scanning it. To you (since you know who you are)-- MEANIE.

Yea well there are some on this hall but I don't want to be considered one of them. Oh and I didn't want to sign not because "I didn't feel like it" but because why would you petition for no class? Somebody is paying for this education so why be denied it. If you don't want to go to class then skip. Alright, I'm gonna climb down off my soap box now because now I do sound like a dork. >>-CC-->

Heather: The rule that you shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition is one of the great myths of English grammar. There's nothing wrong with it--in fact, I defy you to find a usage guide written in the last 100 years that has a problem with this. (Somebody look it up in Hacker and post it--I don't have a copy at home.) The Webster's Dictionary of English Usage has a really good entry on this, but I'm too tired to scan it it.
And I thought I'd resolved the Tuesday class issue--we turn it into online time, "different work" on the honors blog project? Remember: this is part of your final grade. Chris's valiant efforts to preserve the class meeting are noted. But I think our little online Symposium on the Honors Program is a worthwhile effort that engages the same kinds of rhetorical and logical skills we've been exercising in class.
